GEOMETRY THROUGH ART

Geometry is a common element in many works of Art. We can take advantadge of it and give an innovative work on geometry, centering it around a specific and realistic project.
Students have started creating their personal Chinese games called Tangram. It is a dissection puzzle consisting of seven flat shapes, called tans, which are put together to form shapes. The objective of the puzzle is to form a specific shape (given only an outline or silhouette) using all seven pieces, which may not overlap.

Here are some photos from the session:

SYMMETRY

This week the students of second grade have been woorking the symmetry.

First, all together have done a diferents examples of symmetry with tempera. We painted in a part of the paper, and later, we joined the parts together. The result has been a perfect symmetry.

Finally, each student has completed half of the butterfly, and they have decorated them.

The result is so nice, the butterflies have been so beautiful!
